The policy has Approved By and Date Approved fields and carries a Public information classification, so it can be shared with workers, clients and other interested parties.
What the Incident Management Policy Covers

- Reporting and investigation - incidents reported in a timely manner and properly investigated
- Risk register - new risks added and assigned to a risk owner, with unacceptable risks mitigated
- Senior management - involved in deciding response actions
- Records - all incidents recorded, their impact understood and actions taken
- Evidence - gathered, recorded and kept, with relevant staff knowing how to collect and preserve digital evidence
- External reporting - serious incidents reported by authorised individuals where required
- Personal data breaches - assessed promptly and reported to the ICO where required, within 72 hours where feasible, and to affected individuals where there is a high risk
- Recovery - returning to normal operation in a timely manner
- Escalation - incidents needing a coordinated response or with media interest escalated, with a decision on activating the business continuity plan
Checked Against Cyber Essentials
The IT policies in the range have been checked against the Cyber Essentials requirements, so their rules on passwords, devices, access and updates do not contradict what a Cyber Essentials assessment asks for.
Using the Policy
Add your company name and logo, check each commitment matches what your organisation does and edit any that do not, then approve and date the policy and share it with workers and anyone else who needs to see it.
